AP Language & Composition
In preparation for our conversations, course work, and the AP exam, complete the following:
- Assignment:
- Read: Thank you for Arguing by Jay Heinrichs
- Use your time over the summer to read the text before the new school year to help your understanding of Rhetoric and various Rhetorical Strategies.
- Optional: It is strongly recommended, though not required, that you take notes on the concepts as you read. This can be on paper or through annotations if you purchase the book. Again, this is not mandatory as only the reading of the text is required.

AP Literature and Composition
In preparation for our conversations, course work, and the AP exam, complete the following assignment:

- The Tempest by William Shakespeare
- The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
- Use your time over the summer to read each text before next school year to help your understanding of different stylistic elements and various uses of literary devices.
- Optional: It is strongly recommended, though not required, that you take notes on the characters, conflicts, themes, and other areas in each book. This can be on paper or through annotations if you purchase the book. Again, this is not mandatory as only the reading of the text is required. Your notes will not be collected and are only for your personal use.
